Cruise Control:
With the introduction of steering wheel mounted audio controls, the On/off switch
for the Cruise Control needed to be relocated from the LHS of steering wheel to the
RHS of the steering column via
a new twist switch mounted on the end of the blinker stalk. Turning the cruise control
On now involved a simple twist of a knob forward and twist again in the opposite
direction to turn it off (in addition to the brake cancel / resume button
functions). With Ford's typically easy to use cruise control operation allowing three 'off' points instead of the Commodore's
two, the Falcon was a much easier car to drive with confidence especially while
using the cruise control. Importantly with the Ford system, there was no need to step on the brakes to
cancel the cruise.
