Ford was very aware when developing the AU of the public's increased awareness of running costs and the impact of having to insure a car - hence it spent a lot of it's time making sure the AU would be as cheap as possible to insure. Helping make this possible are the already mentioned items of relocated ABS and a radiator blocker bar - as well as less complex and cheaper items normally included in the line of fire. A quick check of relative insurance premiums will confirm that all of Ford's work paid off too - with the AU Falcon one of the cheapest cars to insure amongst any of it's peers and including many much much cheaper cars!
