Photographed by our roving photographers at the 2000 Shepparton Spring Car Nationals, this body kitted AU Falcon had no trouble getting our attention! Featuring a "Peregrine" body kit, this AU2 was built to be a showpiece for company "Paja Vehicle Options" and could be fitted to any AU1 Fairmont / Fairmont Ghia sedan, or AU2 bar the XR's & utes. Fitment to these models would require a bonnet change while the ute could only use the front bumper & grill. Features of the photographed car impressively extended to a full leather interior, sun roof, sports suspension and 18" wheels - all of which Paja can supply if requested.

This kit gives the AU buyer another great choice in personalising their vehicle, and is available through select Ford dealers - although not as a genuine Ford accessory. Paja also offers brake upgrades - a must if you plan to live life on the edge! But what really impressed me about this show car was - believe it or not - the sunroof. Rather than the usual hole cut in the roof & trimmed with rubber strip, this one has fully folded edges just like they used to produce - looking more factory than the Factory version!

Just like any vehicle, care must be taken to choose the correct wheels and ride height. Having spotted a silver version with the "wrong" wheels and sitting like a 4wd - I was ready to give the kit the thumbs down. Fortunately the owners had some sense - and soon a new set of wheels (very similiar to the ones in these shots) made their way under the vehicle along with the mandatory drop in altitude. The change was dramatic - almost unbelievable. I was extremely tempted to ask the owner if I could take some shots - but my camera was at home! Oh - well, maybe next time. But until then, I hope you enjoy these photos as much as we enjoyed looking at the vehicle of which they were taken. |
