Danny's ZC Fairlane:
(back to the Fairlanes / LTD Visitors Cars page)

You can discuss Danny's ride here...
1969 was a good year many will tell you - with plenty of good reasons from the automotive industry for choosing a product from that time frame. From Mustangs to Falcons (GT included) - even dare I say it - Monaros - all things were good as the next decade rapidly approached. It's no wonder then that Danny selected this particular model to be the object of his fascination - right from the time when it was purchased by his Uncle so many years ago. Despite that, this is no one-owner free ride with Danny estimating the he is the fourth owner, so little is known about it's history...
| But some time in it's life it has scored a restoration (which
Danny estimates to be about 10 years ago) leaving it with that luscious shade of
green which Danny says "changes from green to blue to black depending on the light".
Whatever it is, it compliments the abundance of chrome perfectly - as do the
period style 7x14 and 8x14 Cheviots with 225 Eagers and 235 BF Goodrich TA's
respectively.
Keeping it off the road is a fully rebuilt front suspension featuring XF discs and callipers, and nolathane bushes where appropriate. Danny says XF power steering is also on the wish list as are air-bags but for now this'll have to do. |

Motivation comes courtesy of the original 302W - original in that it has never been rebuilt in it's entire 35 year history and is "still going strong"! It's only deviations from standard are a 350 Holley and unknown model extractors - giving just enough extra oomph and power to keep Danny mildly happy until he has the cash to do more... |
And while the original column-shift C10 still remains firmly attached, Danny tells us a floor shifter is soon to take pride of place - helping remove one more wear item for those who know what it's like to work with a column shifted anything once it is a little worn!

Interior wise, Danny says things are still a little shabby - with only a wood-rimmed SAAS steering wheel to boast of - but so far has received a new carpet with the same being repeated in the boot - and a new roof lining in a material that is soon to make it's way to the seats and door trims. Danny writes "So far it has been trouble free and it's kinda like driving a real big comfy couch." |
|
Above and Right: New carpet throughout and... |
|
| an interior that thankfully is soon to lose that cheap vynal look - watch this space for updates to come! |
- Of course exhibiting those classic qualities which Ford intended for it's then luxury flagship. With Danny's wish for air-bags and a big drop in altitude, he may yet achieve his desire for a classic Aussie lead-sled after all. It's great to see another of Ford's luxury based classics getting the treatment it deserves - go Danny and go Fairlane !!!
