Summary:
The EL Falcon was without a doubt the best looking base model Falcon (in standard form that is) since the XY.
Strangely, Ford chose to use the GLi/Futura as the basis for it's V8 Supercar
Racing efforts - a decision surely chosen to give it's base models more
street cred. Which of course is good news for anybody choosing the GLi
& Futura as their starting point - with very little face lost and potential
unlimited for improving the look, sound and performance of their chosen
steed. Although not impossible to find, V8 GLi's were a rare breed
and in their standard form, hardly worth having with only 8 extra
Kilowatts to haul around the extra weight of the V8. - Then there
was the decreased handling due to such a heavy lump up front...
As a second hand vehicle, the EL GLi exemplifies the saying "so much car for so little money", bringing with it traditional Falcon qualities such as exceptional comfort levels, great highway cruisability and safety levels simply not possible in anything short of a car this size. As such, changes introduced at EL have ensured a more stylish car than the EF GLi - and one that has aged (looks wise) much better as well. If your budget only stretches so far, and you simply must have a late model vehicle, then you can't really do much better than this...
