You can't under-estimate the power of just a set of wheels (the right ones of course), the right stance and a simple pinstripe - as shown by the photos of this AU Falcon Forte sent in by Ian. Putting the AU's detractors in their place Ian starts "Hi Gang, I really like the site, mainly because I have an AU Forte and like you blokes, I really like the look of these cars so I bought one." Sounds like a good reason to me! He adds "They are cheap to own." - makes you wonder why so many people buy tinny Hyundai's doesn't it?
"My car is a stock AU Forte with the cheesecutter grille. It has the 16" clover leaf wheels (ex AU1 pre-upgrade XR6/8), cruise control and ABS. I have also installed a CD player." Sounds like Ian hasn't missed out on much by opting for the Forte... "I really like the original design. Note how my car has the original rake. This means that the boot is nearly horizontal, and the tail sweeps up. A nicely integrated design." Couldn't agree more.
Ian says his preference is for the slimmer rear bumper of the AU1 over that fitted to the AU2. "It has lost that swept up look at the rear, and when viewed from the rear now tends to have a droopy end. Not so the original AU." Fair enuff. To further increase the look of this particular AU, Ian has also fitted a chrome plastic stripe around the door moulds and around the bumper bars as well - further proof that the changes don't need to be large to make a big impact.
