Mick's AU Fairlane V8 :

One of our first Visitors Cars pages gets a freshen up :

When it comes to selecting a flagship for commuting between home and his business, Mick of MDC Building Concepts (Sydney, Australia) doesn't muck around.  In a move that would make most of us jealous, no sooner had Mick picked up this immaculate 5.0L V8 Fairlane from his local Ford Dealer (Peter Warren Ford) than he drove right on into Sydney Ford Performance specialist, 'SVO'.

Mick tells me that they really know their stuff - and only work on one car at a time.  It tells then that Mick's Fairlane took nearly a week to finish - with most of the work being under the bonnet and on the exhaust.  And doesn't she sound sweet!!!  - Producing a sound worth bottling, this is best Fairlane I have ever heard this side of a XR8 (dare I say Mick's Fairlane sounds even BETTER?)

While at the time of writing it hadn't been on a dyno yet, but the 220i badges on the bootlid certainly attracted a lot of attention ("is that really a 220kw Fairlane?" - a question Mick heard all too often).  But it's the seat of his pants that let him know what's really under the bonnet.  "Blowing off Commodore drivers at the lights is always fun" says Mick "Nobody expects a car this big to get up and go like she does.  But the biggest thrill is in just driving it.  I've had other Falcons and Commodores before but nothing goes like this one".

Now being a close supporter of Daryl Coon, you can imagine handling came pretty high on Mick's list of things to do!  So Mick had 18" wheels fitted along with Pedders lowered suspension and sports shock absorbers.  "I didn't want to make the ride too firm, as I wanted my car still to feel like a Fairlane".  The finished product is a vast improvement on the stock car's dynamics no less.

Mick and MDC Building Concepts are a major sponsor of Daryl Coon Racing (hence the DCR sticker over the top of the windscreen).  MDC Building Concepts build mainly industrial constructions, so if you're in the Sydney area - you know who to contact!

Well, we all know what Sydney traffic can be like - and what a way to get around!  Oh - and congratulations Mick - you take the prestigous honour of being Falcon/Fairlane/LTD's first featured Fairlane!  Take a bow...

DOES anybody know what has happened to this particular car or Mick?  If you know, we'd love to hear from you or Mick, being one of our first Visitors Cars...
