Proving that not all drool worthy XY Falcons are GTs or GT replicas is this immaculate example sent in by avid reader Michael. Only just out of a full restoration, you can almost smell the fresh paint on this beauty. With a baby 302 Windsor V8, she's relatively economical too - while Michael resists the temptation that is! Making things all the more tempting are twin exhausts (for that all time classic V8 growl) topped with a holley carb, edelbrock intake manifold, Accel distributor and 3 core radiator keeping the whole lot cool. Being a Fairmont, a C4 auto tranny was chosen to keep the luxury feel without threatening to spill it's guts all over the road beneath! The new two pack paint joined the rust free body shell as did a black Fairmont interior, new sheep skin seat covers, new carpet, a GT centre consol and finally a brand spankers SAAS classic wood grain steering wheel. Keeping Michael's toy firmly off the ground are a set of chrome 12 slotters fitted with new rear tyres (wonder why that is?). |

Optional black bumper over riders were found and fitted along with GT look-a-like driving lights. Michael's photos that he sent us had us asking whether he was a professional photographer (no response) taken late in the day making the most of the Falcon's shape combined with that luscious colour! Unfortunately it seems that (almost) all good things must come to an end, and so the XY is regretfully up for sale. Giving the inevitable buying of a house as an excuse ("Man must put roof over head before driving a fast car") Mick swears he'll do it all again once the bank balance turns a lesser shade of red - although hopefully a XY Coupe this time (we'd really like to see that!). In the mean time, he'll just have to keep on earning those brownie points with the missus...

Thanks go to Michael for allowing us all to share a look at this immaculate beast - unfortunately since the writing of this story Michael has sold the beast for an amount I won't mention here or I'll cry... Fortunately it seems as if the car has gone to a good home and will be seen cruising the streets for some time to come!
