Rob's AU series 1 Falcon XR8:
Blue Streak

(Back to AU Falcon Visitor's Cars)

Starting with an original AU1 Falcon XR8, Rob has set about personalising it from brakes to suspension providing that magic ride height that many owners only achieve after a visit to Photo Shop on their computers!  Providing Rob with a good start, this particular '8 came complete with Factory fitted (Tickford fitted that is) body kit and 17" wheels which included that magnificent double deck factory rear wing.  Showing that subtile is often the best form of change, Rob quickly set about adding a lick of paint here and there - beginning with hitting the top deck with gloss rather than the factory semi-gloss fare.  Next the mirrors copped the Navy Blue treatment rather than the factory black with small fog lights being added to the front bumper air intake more for cosmetics more than anything else.

Making sure Ford's baby Windsor sounds a bit more like a V8 are dual 2.5" exhausts from the cat back giving a slight increase in go as well as that sumptuous sound.  At the other end an AU series 2 XR8 engine cover was fitted (same as that fitted to the T-series) and the whole lot was lowered courtesy of a set of coils from King Springs.  Making sure she stops as well as it goes are a set of DBA gold series slotted and grooved rotors while keeping it in the driveway at night is an upgraded security system with full alarm.  Keeping Rob company when he gets sick of the tunes under the bonnet is an 'upgraded' factory stereo and speakers.

Rob states that his future plans include an series 2 nose cone and wheels along with bonnet vents the same as that included in the Sony Explod AU2 XR8.  And as if his XR8 wasn't already low enough, Rob has plans to go for a set of Kings Superlow springs!  Ouch!  Still, the effect on aesthetics will be undeniable!  A full leather interior is also high on the wish list, although Rob says he is yet "to convince the wife about this one!!!!!!!"  Unfortunately, most of us understand only too well - if only the bank account was endless!

As a member of the NSW Tickford Owners Club (formerly the XR Club of NSW) Rob can be regularily seen cruising the streets of Newcastle with other club members and is part of the organising of club events and cruises "to show people some real Ford power!!!!"  So we'd like to say thanks again to Rob for sending these pictures in - to see more or to get in touch with the NSW Tickford Owners Club just visit their website - you won't regret the view!
