Toby's Sony Explod V2:

(Back to AU Drawings.)

Taking the art of digital modification to new heights, this skilfully done rendition of the AU2 Sony Explod has got to take the cake when it comes to AU Falcon coupes!  Toby begins by mentioning that most of the mechanical hardware would be the same as the Sony Explod - hard to beat with near on 350 claimed Kw on tap (check out the full write up on this beast in our AU Showcars section).

See if you can pick the difference...if you can't you probably can't read this either!

Beginning with the more obvious bits the roof was lowered and the windscreens tilted over for that classic fast-back look bringing the boot lid up a little to meet (a feature even the Hillier Bros don't have!)  Stretching the doors and closing up the rears finished the body transformation just nicely with the whole lot dragged down much closer to mother earth than Ford ever intended!

Helping keep that low-as look the wheels were stretched out to a wild 20" in diameter - great for the race track but don't even think about pot-holes!  Looking closely you'll also discover Toby's breathed on even the cars in the background and foreground each receiving larger rims to match in!  Does this bloke miss any detail?

Not one to stop short Toby included a "fully integrated body kit" with his creation making you wonder why Ford didn't do this also - with lower sill mouldings and deeper front and rear bumpers incorporating their separate extensions as part of the package.

Interestingly Toby has chosen to integrate air-vents into the body kit just behind the front wheels in a move that is perhaps more indicative of the HQ Monaro than the latest HSV modified versions!  Tinted windows help complete the picture with the exhaust tips made invisible - this is one sick puppy!  "I want it to have enough power and grip to lift the front wheels off the ground under full acceleration (like my mate's 100% street legal 300ZX, who also shattered a triple plate racing clutch the other day but that's another story)."

Our only question after all that is how on earth one car can be made to look so good!  This is one that definitely deserves to be built - so who's going to be first?  Thanks must go to Toby for sharing with us his latest creation - we can only look forward to whatever he may come up with next...
