So has somebody actually got the inside line on who's racing for what teams next year (all in relation to Falcons of course)?

On the subject of engines & engine failures, would sure be interesting to be a fly on the wall when one of these rippas gets torn to bits in post mortem - and to see which bits let go and why. Very valuable learning curve that...

Or how about buying one of these engines for your Falc??

I've seen them advertised before.

Two things to say about that - emissions (doh!) and how much (double doh!!!!) - not really ready to sacrifice everything just to buy an engine...

With the emissins, i read somewhere that a supercar spec engine aint to hard to pass emissions. I think it was basicly bolting on a ADR-complient exaughst and manifold/trottle body. But price, $80-100,000. Can someone confirm?

At that price I'll have three.

What sort of fuel could you successfully run the engine on?

Yeah thats the measurment. It relates to the octane rating of the fuel - i.e. potency

91 ron is normal unleaded, 95 ron is your Ampol, Mobil, Safeway Petrol etc "premium", 98 ron is Shell and BP premium (as far as I know these 2 are the only 98 octane providers).

I've seen ex-HRT motors for sale for around $30,000.

The V8 Supercar engines are required to run on 98RON unleaded as far as I know.

Basically all you would need to do is set up the ECU accordingly and run some Big **sed Cats.

In full V8 Supercar trim these motors make over 600hp. You would probably lose 100-150hp in making one emissions legal. But you would still have a 450-500hp Five litre V8. That is still more than most people would get out of a five litre motor.

as far as i know, if it is in any Falcon model that had a 5.0l option, it won't require a certificate. Hmm, one of these in a EB wouldnt be too bad :D

Yep, Caltex Vortex is 98 RON - Russell Ingall will drive the last round this weekend as Number 98 and have the Vortex Livery all over his car.
