Tom,

Daily driver is now an AUII XR6 ute, story to follow soon when I get some decent pics.

As for future plans, it is currently for sale :( , though not trying too hard. Applications for custodian will be taken, see add in carsales.com.au or carsguide.com.au or cantact me through the forum.

I really only want to sell it to someone who will look after it and treat it well.

The only reason that it is on the market is not enough room, what with the ute, a charger being restored, my 240Z race car and the missus' Astra convertible, there is not a lot of room in the garage or driveway, plus I still have an XD ute in Sydney.

If it doesn't go I would like to redo the body work, the tin worm is a bastard to keep on top of and I'm not happy with the paint, it needs another respray, the last one done ten years ago, plus I wouldn't mind getting the 12 slotters rechromed, all comes down to dollars and priorities.

Glad you are enjoying the car :D :D :D

thats right now i remember bout the ute!

yeh you will have a whole visitors car gallery to yourself in no time!!

its a bit like that hey, you dont want to sell your car to just anyone, who wont look after it. i would be devastated if i sold mine and the next week saw it with a scratch on it, let alone wrapped around a pole or something!!

Love that Fairlane 500! 8) Wasn't aware that OZ Ford built 3 different car lines with 4 different wheelbases on the same basic platform until looking it up in my World Cars 1974 book. You should see the pic it contains. Full wheelcovers, vynil roof covering, that's class, mate! 8)

Thanks Mark.

It is a classic look that I reckon still looks good, though it has suffered over the last 12 months in the paint department from having to sit outside and not being used. This will hopefully be rectified in the next ferw months.

Hey Matt - great looking ZG - I have a 76 ZG, the floor gets wet on both sides and I'm pretty sure it would be a leak from the cowl vents. Any advice would help. Regards

Robert, good to see someone else here into the old school stuff.

Leaks onto the floor to me suggests windscreen seal if you haven't had a screen replaced for a while and it only happens in wet weather.

If you get leaks all the time I'd be looking at the heating system, or even checking for condensation from the AC if you are running it in humid weather, mine used to drip constantly in warm weather here in brisbane.

Thanks Matt - bought the car last Feb. knowing it had a leak because carpet was rotting ( but floor pans are still solid) and I knew the owner. Windscreen had to be replaced for roadworthy - it still leaks - what do you think? Aircon is disconnected - side of compressor blew out after I had the system serviced-there was crap and oil everywhere.

Anyhow mine is the same colour as yours, with dark brown vinyl roof, has only done 170000 km, has a 351C, runs on dual fuel (hate the look without the air cleaner though), looking to put a set of 12 slotters on her-currently has original Fairlane hubcaps. I love the ride and solid size.

Yeah I'm in to the old cars-recently sold my XC to a young kid-had to too many projects not enough room. Just finished restoring a 1970 Mustang and that takes up most of the room in the shed-of course there's room for the ZG. Just love the chrome on old cars. These modern jobs with computers and such are impossible to fix yourself. Give me minimal technology any day.

Anyhow, thanks for your advice and have a good day.

From the sounds of it, I'd be looking at windscreen seal, test by getting someone to hose water like a rain storm, if your in an area that doesn't water restrictions of course, or at your local car wash with the high pressure jet, while your inside and wait, you should have enoyugh room to get under the dash to have a good look

I know what you mean about the old cars, it was a sad day when mine was sold, I had it for 12 years and didn't really want to let it go, but really needed the money. I will probably start looking for another ZF, ZG or ZH in the next 18 months or so, but I reckon will be hard pressed to find one the same as mine was with AC, fast glass and even propoer Ford 12 slotters.

Just gotta get the Chugger finished to get my fix of old school motoring again.

G'day Matt!! haven't spoken to you in a while!! I've got a question for you...When did Ford in OZ make laminated winscreens standard?? I was looking at a ZC Fairlane catalogue, and it stated that the shaded laminated windscreen was an option. The standard windscreen was tempered glass.
