I bought the EF in November 2003 for $5,500 after trading in my EA, which should have been on a scrap heap long before I bought it. But the valiant old EA never did me wrong, and as though on cue - after I had organised the 600 trade for it - the radiator hose blew, dumping green water on the driveway of the car yard. But that was no longer my problem. |

The EF needed some minor work to get her back to acceptable. The rear badge was missing, as was the tow bar cover and the air intake duct (snorkel). As the badge and cover were obvious, I fixed them straight up and also peeled off the UGLY pin-striping while I was at it. The snorkel would have to wait (for about 15 months actually). Got all the necessary services done and bought it past a simple roadworthy and back to A1. Very comfortable and plenty of poke. |
| A while after I bought it, my wife bought a brand new Mazda 6. So I had 'just cause' to get my window tint. When I checked out the prices I found a place that had a special for Tint, Sunroof and Spoiler = $900.00. And jumped on that one. Was very happy that I now had a car that was a bit different to the rest of the Argon Silver ones out there. Don't get me wrong, I love the colour - but now it’s not like everyone else’s. | ![]() |

The wheels were on when I bought it. And I still couldn't think of a wheel I like better (not in 15in anyway). So I just put some decent rubber on them. Regular services and jumping on things at the first sign of trouble has seen me with a new rack, sump cover and head work in the last 6 months - followed up with suspension work recently (see discussion forum). |
Which
brings us to now. And me with a very tidy, comfortable and reliable
EF. Which just got a new Air intake duct. The AU XR8 Snorkel works and
looks an absolute treat. And for 35 bucks, one of the cheapest things
I've ever done to a car.
On
the list of jobs, only the radius rod bushes remain - plus whatever
other bushes I feel like doing whilst under there.
If
anything else, I may get it lowered. $280.00 is a reasonable amount,
it's just that I'm not looking forward to going under there for a
while. Will be a good project one weekend. Only problem is that once
lowered, someone's going to need some new wheels....so we'll see.
Will probably buy my MP3 Player first, given the long trips I do (Vs
the crap on the local radio).
