Although it's not a newie to the Summernats
scene, this 1962 Falcon Convertable still gets me every time... Hang on a
minute - isn't that a XL in Aussie speak? Nope - imported straight from
the US as a factory convert, take note of the pointed front guards and different
headlight surrounds...
Now that's not to say that there's been no Aussie input there...if you didn't
spot the non standard colour then you're probably not able to read this
either! I don't think I need to say 1962 Falcons didn't come with injected
V8's either! Not even in the US... A white interior in strong
sunlight may sure make photography difficult but I'm sure the effect on the back
when you get in is worth it! (those who don't know what I'm talking about
have never been in a dark coloured vynal or leather interior on a hot day!)
Now to let you down...softly...with this mint
example of an XR of a different type - a 1966 version that is! With it's
magnificent dark blue duco set off perfectly by all-that-chrome, what could be
better than a set of 17" old style Cragars? Whoops - what's that I
hear you say - they didn't make 17" Cragars? They do now!
...And onto Falcons of a more modern breed.
BA XR6T features aftermarket ducting (anything would be better than the
restrictive factory set-up) with carbon-fibre bonnet and imitation lashings
everywhere else...
Airbrushed filter housing looks the goods with
FPV logo on it - inc SS inductions XR8 feeder. Blacked out driving light
buckets on FPV front bar looks surprisingly good too. Rear shot shows
carbon fibre XR8 bonnet better - and air brushed FPV rear wing. Nice!
Now all it needs is some decent wheels...
We started with an early Bird - so why not finish
this page with one? XP in a remarkably factory stock shade looks amazingly
good - have always liked this colour! With no badges to be seen and a
smoothed and boxed area where the rear bumperettes once sat (and number plate
surround of course), smoooooth is an understatement...
